How to make a quaterpipe

making a quarter pipe could be one of the funniest projects to do with your friends.....me and with are prbly going to start ours here in a month or so but to be honest its easy to make and not to expensive....

How To Build A Quarter Pipe For Skateboarding

First you will need to decide on what size your quarter pipe is going to be and you will need a set of plans. Get yourself a nice workspace and you will need some basic tools which are listed below. Once you've got your quarter pipe plans and your tools and materials together and lay out your supplies. First you need to cut your lumber based on the size that you want your quarter pipe to be. Once you've cut your pieces to size, based on your plans, it's time to start putting your quarter pipe together.
1)Make sure your bracing is solid underneath your top sheet, so you don't fall through.
2)Once you've built the framework, you should prep the top pieces of the plywood by soaking them with cold water for about an hour. This will make the wood a litte soft and make it easier to curve at the angle of your framework.
3)When your top pieces have been nailed to the framework, sand and paint them to make your quarter pipe faster.
4)For a smoother transition, sand the bottom edge of the top sheet at an angle even with the ground. Duct tape or electrical tape may be added to smooth the transition's bottom edge. Another option would be to put a piece of sheet metal as the middle man between the ramp and the surface. This will make your ramp last longer and you will not wear the plywood as quickly this way.

Here are the supplies you'll need to build a 4 foot tall, 8 foot wide quarter pipe:
(2) 3/4” 4x8 sheets Plywood
(4) 3/8” 4x8 sheets Plywood
(2) 1/3” 4x8 sheets Masonite
(1) 2 3/8” stell coping, 8 feet long
(10) 8’ 2x4’s Preferably Douglas Fir
2 1/2 boxes of 16 penny nails ( The big long ones they are marked 16D at he store)
2 Boxes of Wood Screws 1 1/2”

Well there you have it a simple quarterpipe, the products you will need and the price depends on where you buy the material but this shouldn’t run you more than $200.00.

Make sure you have a plenty of space to cut out your transitions.

Make sure you leave a notch at the top for coping that is very important.

Get everything dialed in and make sure your measurements are correct.

Your done now go skate your quarterpipe and have fun.

cop stories!!

Like many business owners skating can get on their nerves me and will spent all day searching to bring you the most crazy and funny cop videos !!!!!

Make skate/curb wax

Have you seen the ridiculous prices for skate wax it like almost $10 for a bar of soap sized wax!!!! Today im going to teach you step by step guide on how to make your own skate/curb wax!!!___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

step 1tools and materials

to make the wax, you will need a couple of tools, and two (2) ingredients.
the tools you will need:
an Altoids tin or metal container
pot or pie dish
muffin tray
cupcake paper thingies (optional, but highly recommended if you intend to use the tin for muffins again)
spoon
washing up glove(s)
ice block (optional)

the ingredients you need
candles/wax (see picture for details)
olive oil

tools and materials

step 2melt your wax

Get your pie tin/pot and fill it with water. Now measure (by volume) how much wax you have. This will be important when you add the oil. Get the water to the boil then put your Altoids tin/container in the boiling water, then put the wax in the Altoids tin/container. As it starts to melt, turn down the heat because if you have it on the highest setting it will boil away the water.
This almost happened to me. I started with a full pie tin and it was almost completely empty by the end of making the batch.
stir the wax a bit to help it melt.

melt your wax

step 3add oil

Now, once the wax has completely melted, add oil at a rate of about 1:2.5 (wax:oil). you can add more, but it might not set. but if you don't put enough in it won't be very slippery. experiment. if you want color, don't use food dyes, use colored candles in the mix.

add oil

step 4pour into moulds and let set.

Put the cupcake thingies in the muffin tray. Now get the melted wax and oil and pour it into the cupcake thingies. Let set. Use the ice block to help if you want.

pour into moulds and let set.

step 5do something with it!

you could start lubing up your rails with your very own wax or you could sell it.
Do what you want with it! its yours!

do something with it!

Best bearings

How to make skateboard

Today me and will talked about possibly starting to make and sell skateboards.......like most people your thinking how hard and expensive making a skateboard would be,but really its neither! its actually much more easier and cheaper than you might expect .... (below are the steps how)

THINGS YOU WILL NEED:

1.) Hard rock maple veneer .....if you don't know what this is the picture above is what it looks like its just a thin layer of wood ....i like to buy my veneer from....(http://snowboardmaterials.com/pages/skateboard_materials.htm) its only $65 for enough veneers for 5 boards!!!!!!!

2.)secondly you will need glue i suggest the...(MBSK8 Skateboard Adhesive - 1 Gallon ) also listed on the website above for $35

3.) the third and most important is the "PRESS" the press is comprised of a mold and a jack or pinching system below i attached some vids describing how to make one of these so called "press devices"

___________________________________________________________________________

NOW FOR THE BUILDING!!!!!

step 1The veneers

the next step is once you get the veneers you will have three types of veneers they are called

Face- which is a veneer that is sanded on one side but not sanded on the other side that is the first veneer.

Core layer- it's the same thing as the face but both sides of the veneer are not sanded.

Cross band- which is a sheet of veneer that is not cut with the grain but is cut going against the grain

This is how the veneers are supposed to be layed

Face, Core layer, Cross band, Core layer, Cross Band, Core layer, then the last one is a Face

step 2Gluing the Veneers

Now once you have all of the veneers in the right place for the skateboard is TIME TO GLUE!!!
If you use any other type of glue beside tie bond your screwed because the other glue doesn't hold as strong as tie bond trust me I've done it before.

Any way for gluing process take a sanded side of the Face on the concrete or were ever you do this, and the unsanded side up. Put glue on the unsanded side of the face then take a core layer and put that on the face do that with the same thing as the cross band 7 times

step 3Pressing and curing

Once you have all of veneers glued together it's now time for the pressing process

Take two pieces of cardboard that are about 3 inches wider and longer then the unshaped board.
then, put the mold on it's side and stick the veneers between the mold and the cardboard, then take 2 4' channel irons and a about 20" to 16" bolts with nuts and washers. Now put the channel irons in the center of the mold so it gets a good nice press. once this is done let the deck take its shaped for about 1 to 1 1/2 days for it to cure good and strong

step 4designing the uncut

Once The uncut deck has cured take it out of the mold and remove the cardboard(pieces of the cardboard will stick to the uncut either sand it or try to chisel the cardboard off.). once you got that done it's time to make your design. what I would use a is a design cadd program it makes it more accurate for the nose & tail, you could draw your design out on graph paper. once you have drawn out our design put it on the uncut just don't tape it on yet, figure out how long you want the nose & tail of the board. Once you have everything where you want it make the markings for the trucks then you can start to tape and draw then cut the outline

step 5cutting the uncut

Once you have the design ready to got is time to cut tea deck out to is shape.

when you do this I would just suggest to use a band saw because it's more accurate of a cut, but if you don't have one you can always use the handy dandy little jigsaw. when you star to cut make for cut I'll show you in the picture, start your cutting.
After you get done cutting it out take a router of a rasp to curve the edges ( that's to make sure you don't get slivers. after that is done sand the entire deck then take steel wool of sand paper ( about 150 to 220 grit) and hand sand till it's super, super smooth. oh don't forget to drill the truck holes

step 6Finishing Touches

PAINT &GRIP..........................NOW GO SHRED!!
